At Google I/O 2025, Google unveiled Google Beam, an AI-first 3D video communication platform that redefines virtual interactions. Evolving from the experimental Project Starline, Beam integrates advanced AI and hardware to deliver immersive, lifelike video conferencing experiences.

  What is Google Beam?

Google Beam transforms traditional 2D video calls into realistic 3D conversations. Utilizing an array of six cameras and AI-powered volumetric modeling, Beam captures and renders participants in three dimensions, allowing for natural eye contact and gestures. The system operates at 60 frames per second with near-perfect head tracking, creating a sense of physical presence between users.

  Collaborations and Availability

Google is partnering with HP to bring Beam to enterprise environments, with initial deployments planned for companies like Deloitte, Salesforce, NEC, Duolingo, and Citadel. The technology is also set to integrate with platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom, expanding its reach across various communication tools.

  AI Integration

Beam leverages Google’s Gemini AI models to enhance the video conferencing experience. The AI facilitates real-time speech translation, enabling seamless multilingual conversations, and contributes to the realistic rendering of participants.
